2025 Season - Call for Proposals
Proposals are due saturday, February 1, 2025.
SoHIP's mission is to promote and enrich public appreciation and understanding of historically informed performance in New England, and to support the development of new projects and ensembles with ties to the region. We seek to support New England artists by providing quality performance opportunities, and New England audiences by introducing them to local talent.
We are now seeking proposals from New-England based ensembles who wish to perform on our 2025 concert series. The series will begin in mid June and run through early August.
SoHIP will consider implementing health and safety measures for performers and audiences if warranted, such as masking, testing, presenting a virtual season, etc. Further information will be provided should that occur.
Fee: Each performer will be paid $500, for up to 8 people per ensemble. Performers collaborate with SoHIP in promoting the concert series across social media and other platforms. In addition, some funds may be available for the rental and cartage of keyboard instruments if needed. If this applies to your ensemble, please indicate it in your proposal.
A complete proposal should include:
The name of the ensemble and a list of members for your proposed program. Please indicate a contact person and their phone number, address, and email address. All performers must be legally able to work in the US.
Your website and social media handles (if applicable).
The title and a description of your proposed program, including your reasons for creating it. We prefer new or not recently performed programs. Please list dates and locations for any performances given in the last two years.
Representative selections, composers, dates, and instrumentation for your proposed program.
A brief history of your ensemble including a few words about each member.
An indication of which of the following weeks (T/W/Th evenings) your ensemble is available. Please provide at least three options: June 17-19, June 24-26, July 1-3, July 8-10, July 15-17, July 22-24, July 29-31, or August 5-7.
A high-quality recording of your ensemble, or links to audio/video, not to exceed 10 minutes. The music on the recording should be representative of your concert proposal, although the exact works do not need to be included. At least two contrasting pieces is helpful. It is highly desirable that the performers on your recording are the ones who will play in your concert. Please include a track and personnel listing. Accepted formats: MP3, MP4, WAV, or direct links to YouTube, SoundCloud, or other site.
How to apply: All documents should be in PDF format, and all materials sent via email, Google Drive, or Dropbox to proposals@sohipboston.org.
Deadline to Apply: February 1, 2025. Ensembles will be notified of SoHIP’s decision by mid-March.
Each selected ensemble will perform on the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings of one week, at locations in Lincoln, Andover, and Boston. The series runs from June to early August, with exact dates confirmed in spring. Concerts usually have a total running time of 60-75 minutes without intermission.
SoHIP will provide a professional videographer for one concert each week; videos will be shared with the public and made available to ensembles for their own use. SoHIP will retain exclusivity for one week following the premiere on our YouTube channel, after which the ensemble or another presenter is welcome to republish the content. The video will remain on SoHIP’s YouTube channel for one year, after which you may elect to have the video removed if, for example, you feel it is no longer representative of your group’s sound.
Proposals are due Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Ensembles will be notified by mid-March.
We look forward to hearing from you!
